Helped setup dining area, assisted with meal preparations for over fifty people, served meals to individuals, sorted through food donations to determine freshness, organized and labeled donations into categories, put food away into proper storage locations, swept and mopped dining room floor, washed dishes, assisted with meal/kitchen clean up, facilitated with chores.
Humanitarian aid trip to improve the health, nutrition, education, and general welfare of the orphaned and impoverished children and communities in Nicaragua. During this trip we gave the children the opportunity to take a break from their lives of poverty by taking them to places such as the beach, the pool, a video arcade, and others and of course feeding them and showing them love. Organized and filled bags of groceries to donate to eligible families. Participated in the Alzheimer’s Association's 2011 and 2012 “Walk to End Alzheimer's.” Developed and implemented a nutrition education program to educate the middle schoolers about “MyPlate” and overall nutrition. Assisted with snack-time and clean-up; helped students with homework and reading; supervised playtime and creative activities. Alphabetized immunization records, filed patient charts, pulled outdated charts, and collected charts needed for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. Served Thanksgiving meals to residents of Eulalie Bobbitt apartments. This apartment complex provides low-income housing to the elderly and persons with disabilities living in the city of Norfolk, Virginia. After the meals were served, the volunteers played bingo and spent time socializing with the residents. |
