Biography
My name is Christina Kalafsky and I was born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia. My love of the beach influenced my decision to attend the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. It was during my freshman year at this institution when a registered dietitian came to speak to my health class that I discovered I could turn my passion for food into a profession. Inspired by what I had heard, I made the necessary changes to transfer schools in order to pursue a career in nutrition. I gained experience in the dietetics field by shadowing the registered dietitians and food service team at three different Sentara Hospitals in Virginia during the Summer of 2013. Witnessing their impact within the health system reinforced that I am on the right path to achieve my desired profession. I graduated summa cum laude with a BS in Dietetics from James Madison University in May 2013 and completed my dietetic internship with The University of Maryland College Park in June 2014. Aside from nutrition, I enjoy traveling, painting, working out, spending time with my family and friends, and eating.
