I worked a variety of floors including the medical/surgical floors and intensive care unit. Overall tasks during my rotation at the Baltimore VA Medical Center:
- Gained work experience in an urban healthcare center geared towards the US Veterans
- Provided nutrition assessments, follow-ups, education and responded to consults
- Attended interdisciplinary rounds in ICU
- Calculated and recommended enteral nutrition for patients requiring nutritional support
- Toured the kitchen and taste-tested nutrition supplements available for patients
- Became familiar with the VA-standard electronic health record system- Vista and CRPS
- Attended monthly Nutrition Department staff meeting
